1 Corinthians 16
1Co 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
PAUL INSTRUCTS THE CORINTHIANS TO GIVE ON A consistent basis.
Giving is an expression of the life that we have received in Christ.
Giving is an expression of the love of God that is shed abroad in our hearts.
There are two sides to our giving.
There is a divine side: by this we mean that we give because God asked us to give. And that in itself should be a sufficient reason to give.
We just give because He asked us to. We give in obedience to His Holy Word. We give in obedience to His holy instruction to Honor Him with our finances.
In this, we give because we love the Master and in obedience to Him we give.
But then there is a pragmatic side to giving.
By this we mean there is a practical side to our giving. In this pragmatic side, we give because there are promises made to us by God concerning our giving.
He said, give and it shall be given to unto you, good measure. pressed down, shaken together and running over. Shall men give unto your bossom.
What can be more pragmatic than this.
He gave us this promise to urge us on to give. He gave us several promises concerning giving in order to encourage us to give relentlessly.
In 2 Corinthians Paul said, he that giveth sparingly shall also reap sparingly and he that giveth bountifully shall also reap bountifully.
It then follows that the onus of prosperity, the onus of our financial prosperity lies with the individual Believer.
Our blessed Father gave us this pragmatic side of giving in order to sling us forwards. Alleluia!
Never be cold feet-ed when it comes to giving.
God’s dream is that “you abound in EVERY good work”! Alleulia!
Embrace God’s dream for you today and make it a reality in your individual life.
To the ends of the earth!
God bless you richly with great grace and many blessings!
